Toyota Corolla Completes a Hat-Trick
Toyota's Corolla has capped three straight months as Australia's best-selling car with a January record of more than 4,000 sales.
Since the start of November, Corolla has outsold the second placegetter by almost 33 per cent, or more than 3,300 sales.
The popular Toyota is also Australia's best-selling car for the first seven months of the financial year with dealers delivering more than 26,500 cars - a lead in excess of 1,000.
Corolla has now been the country's top-seller on 14 occasions, but this is the first time it has claimed a hat-trick, maintaining the top rung for three months in a row.
Its strength, especially among private buyers, helped propel Toyota to its 70th consecutive month as market leader - an unbroken run dating back to April 2005.
Toyota's January result of 14,817 deliveries represents a January-on-January rise of 1.7 per cent and an improved market share of 20.1 per cent.
In addition to Corolla, Toyota's other segment leaders for January were:
Toyota Australia's senior executive director sales and marketing David Buttner said Corolla was a stand-out performer in a tough month for the industry.
"We supported Corolla strongly with advertising and marketing offers, just as our competitors did with their leading cars," Mr Buttner said.
"Consumers have responded in such large numbers because Corolla is the right package for Australians of all ages - stylish, affordable, fuel-efficient and reliable," he said.
